JDeveloper ADF Framework with Oracle database

Good day everyone!

I miss blogging...ehehe..Anyways, I would like to share my ideas about the tool JDeveloper. JDeveloper is an tool in making java programs like JavaServer Pages(jsp), servlet, java class, mobile applications, applet, and other things that java supports. We use JDeveloper in making our web application, create java class and JavaServer Pages. We have our own server and we use Weblogic server to host our projects. If you are a php and apache and mysql guy, your languange is PHP, your Server is apache, and your database is mysql. While in this learnings we will tackle jsp, weblogic and oracle which is the JSP is our languang, Weblogic is our Server and Oracle is our database.

USEP New Enrollment System

Enrollment system is the must have system in a school. When a student is enrolling for a specific course the school requires all the necessary information of the enrollee. When the school retrieves the important information from the student, the encoder now should input the details of the student in the enrollment system. In the enrollment system, the school can trace what are the standings of the students. The data of the student are inserted in the enrollment system it includes payment, subjects, number of units, section, subject rooms, etc. Lack of enrollment system in a school it can lead to chaos and troubles, the students will be confuse on what they should do and how they will do to be able to enroll. It is extremely useful in the school in the way of making the processes of enrolling much easy.

The university made a new enrolment system, at first you can think that it is good for us to enroll in a trouble-free way. I think the primary intention of the university is to minimize the long lines in every step of the enrolment period which is better for the students and the staffs. The intention of the university is good but when I started my enrolment I felt that it is much worst, because of the additional steps they made. I will enumerate the processes that I took in my enrolment. This procedure is for the old students only.

Step 1: Account Status

 In this first step the student must get their statement of accounts in the bookkeeper to check whether they have some balances or something problem about their accounts.

COMMENT/OBSERVATION/SUGGESTION

- For me it is better to have this step, in order that the university will know who the students are not fully paid yet. In the other hand why they implement this step if the student has a clearance that is to be sign in the bookkeeper which is indicating that the student has no problem in his/her account. In short, they are redundant.

Step 2: Local fees and org fees

 This step is in the previous enrolment system. In this part, the student is compulsory to pay the local fees and org fees. The student will not be entertained by his/her adviser if she/he has not yet pay the local fees and org fees.

Step 3: Advising

 Here, the students must proceed to their respective adviser for them to know what the subjects they will be enrolling are and to limit the student in overloading units.

Step 4: Encoding

 Encoding of subjects.

Step 5: Cashier

 The students will pay their tuitions and miscellaneous. They will go to the cashier and give the statement of accounts from encoded subject.

COMMENT/OBSERVATION/SUGGESTION:

- In this step, the entire student will surely be tired because of the long lines. If the university want that the enrolment system will be better they must give attention in this step which is paying tuitions and miscellaneous. All the students(except scholars) in the university will be taking this step and there are only 2 cashiers. Imagine how long the lines in the cahier.

- If they will give me a chance to implement a new enrolment system I will suggest that the student will be given a priority number and put an electronic number caller in the cahier. In this action the lobby area outside the cahier will not be filled with many students. Instead of falling a line and wait they will only wait their priority number to be called.

Step 6: Registrar

 The registrar will validate your account, local fess, org fees and your clearance. If all things are good, they will be stamping you OFFICIALLY ENROLLED.

COMMENT/OBSERVATION/SUGGESTION:

- The registrar made a strategy which is it has only one registrar for all the courses. It is ok because they have 8 windows.

Step 7: Library

- The students must validate their library card.

In my own view the diagram is understandable but they put to much beauty in the diagram. If I will be tapped by the administration I suggest in making a diagram or use-case diagram, that make it simple like for example the arrows they used are not connected. In a proper manner they must be connected to see the flow of the diagram.

The boxes in the diagram has some property that is not neccessary to be there, instead of putting beauty to the diagram they must consider the user. If the diagram is simple the students can be easily guided by it.

SAVE TAMUGAN RIVER! A Manifesto of Support We concerned citizens, solidly support the Davao City Water District’s (DCWD) proposed Tamugan Surface Water Development Project (TSWD). We are aware of the looming water crisis in the city as pointed out by various independent studies1. With a city population rate of 2.84%, a rapidly declining forest cover2, and burgeoning commercial and industrial activities, there is reason to be alarmed. The TSWD is an imperative step to address this. Over the years, we have derived practically all of our water from groundwater sources. We have used up only 1% from our surface water, which is compelling enough to begin developing new projects such as the TSWD. We understand that the Tamugan River that will be tapped by the DCWD for its surface water project is the only river left in Davao City that has an acceptable water quality and sufficient volume to meet our future needs for drinking water3. We understand also that the proposed hydropower project of Hedcor within the Panigan-Tamugan Watershed may likely disturb the environment. It will certainly compromise the groundwater sources of the Dumoy aquifer which supplies water for the majority of Davaoenos. Hedcor undoubtedly has other rivers to tap, while DCWD has only the Tamugan River to utilize. The latter is our last remaining, economically viable, and physiologically feasible source of drinking water. Specifically, it is expected to bring new service connections to some 150,000 residents and improve existing services to more than 800,000 people. In view of the above reasons, we urge our national and local government officials to fully enforce policies designed to protect our water sources. We implore them to support DCWD’s surface water project and to declare the use of Tamugan River solely for domestic and municipal purposes.

Here are the steps in implementing an Information System Plan

Project Management

-In this part of the implementation is more on the taking care of the new information system. It will be discuss here who will manage the new information system and what are the things he/she must do to manage the system properly. It also included here how they trouble shoot the system if there is a problem will occur. In a simple way, this part is how they will handle the new information system and how will move one from the older one to the new information system they have.

Data Conversation

-When implementing the new information system it is a must that you will consider what are the data will be transfer from the old system. They must specify what are needed information must be move to the new system. Here are some questions must be answer in data conversation:
• What issues are involved with converting the data (i.e., lack of a standard way of calculating interest from one branch office to the next)?

• What is the volume of data to be converted?

• Given time, costs and percentage of error, would a manual or automated conversion, or a combination of both be better?

Training

- There must be a necessary training for the IT staff and the general staff to run the information system in a smooth way. Since it is new system, a new way of operating the system and it must be study well the function of the system.

Climate Change Actions!

Climate change is any long-term significant change in the “average weather” of a region or the earth as a whole. Average weather may include average temperature, precipitation and wind patterns. It involves changes in the variability or average state of the atmosphere over durations ranging from decades to millions of years. These changes can be caused by dynamic processes on Earth, external forces including variations in sunlight intensity, and more recently by human activities.

It is true that technology has been the biggest contributor of climate change, since technology is more on invention and invention needs more test and it uses some chemicals that can harm our environment. I really agree of that statement that technology is the biggest giver to climate change and I want that all the user of technology will help our environment for the sake of the next generation. As an Information Technology student of University Southeastern Philippines I have here a number of suggestions that can help reduce the effect of technology in global warming or climate change.

Suggestions in helping our environment and minimize climate change:

1. Proper Disposal of the Hardware. Proper disposal of the hardware can reduce in climate change and hardware that are not being used can be a source of income instead. Hardware can also be the cause of the climate change if it is not properly dispose. Old hardware or damage hardware can still be utilize by making them a decoration or something getting their good parts and put it into hardware. One good example also of disposal of hardware is that you can donate or sell to the schools that are studying about certain hardware for academic purposes.

2. Don’t burn plastics

3. Change a light. Replacing a regular light bulb with a compact fluorescent one saves 150 pounds of carbon dioxide each year.

4. Drive less. Walk, bike, carpool, take mass transit, and/or trip chain. All of these things can help reduce gas consumption and one pound of carbon dioxide for each mile you do not drive. If you are using car or vehicles that needs a gasoline to run or a diesel it releases waste from the machine of the vehicle. The waste that has been releases from the vehicle the air will be polluted. While if you are using only a bicycle you can save money, you can exercise and the best of all you save our mother nature.

5. Recycle more and buy recycled. Save up to 2,400 pounds of carbon dioxide each year just by recycling half of your household waste. By recycling and buying products with recycled content you also save energy, resources and landfill space!

6. Check your tires. Properly inflated tires mean good gas mileage. For each gallon of gas saved, 20 pounds of carbon dioxide are also never produced.

7. Use less hot water. It takes a lot of energy to heat water. Reducing the amount used means big savings in not only your energy bills, but also in carbon dioxide emissions. Using cold water for your wash saves 500 pounds of carbon dioxide a year, and using a low flow showerhead reduces 350 pounds of carbon dioxide. Make the most of your hot water by insulating your tank and keeping the temperature at or below 120.

8. Avoid products with a lot of packaging. Preventing waste from being created in the first place means that there is less energy wasted and fewer resources consumed. When you purchase products with the least amount of packaging, not only do you save money, but you also help the environment! Reducing your garbage by 10% reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 1,200 pounds.

9. Adjust your thermostat. Keeping your thermostat at 68 degrees in winter and 78 degrees in summer not only helps with your energy bills, but it can reduce carbon dioxide emissions as well. No matter where you set your dial, two degrees cooler in the winter or warmer in the summer can mean a reduction of 2,000 pounds of carbon dioxide a year.

10. Plant a tree. A single tree can absorb one ton of carbon dioxide over its lifetime.

11. Turn off electronic devices when not in use. Simply turning off your TV, VCR, computer and other electronic devices can save each household thousand of pounds of carbon dioxide each year.

12. Segregate your garbage. by segregating the garbage properly it can help in minimizing the climate change.

Having this actions follow in minimizing the climate change, we can help our society, our environment and especially the next generation. Climate change can affect not only here in our country but in the entire continent. I will give you some of the effects of the climate change and try to react. With these effects of the climate change can you still take no actions?Here are some of the effects of the climate change:

During the 20th century, sea level rose about 15 cm (6 inches) due to melting glacier ice and expansion of warmer seawater. Models predict that sea level may rise as much as 59 cm (23 inches) during the 21st Century, threatening coastal communities, wetlands, and coral reefs.
Arctic sea ice is melting. The summer thickness of sea ice is about half of what it was in 1950. Melting ice may lead to changes in ocean circulation. Plus melting sea ice is speeding up warming in the Arctic.
Glaciers and permafrost are melting. Over the past 100 years, mountain glaciers in all areas of the world have decreased in size and so has the amount of permafrost in the Arctic. Greenland's ice sheet is melting faster too.
Sea-surface temperatures are warming. Warmer waters in the shallow oceans have contributed to the death of about a quarter of the world's coral reefs in the last few decades. Many of the coral animals died after weakened by bleaching, a process tied to warmed waters.
Heavier rainfall cause flooding in many regions. Warmer temperatures have led to more intense rainfall events in some areas. This can cause flooding.
Extreme drought is increasing. Higher temperatures cause a higher rate of evaporation and more drought in some areas of the world.
Ecosystems are changing. As temperatures warm, species may either move to a cooler habitat or die. Species that are particularly vulnerable include endangered species, coral reefs, and polar animals. Warming has also caused changes in the timing of spring events and the length of the growing season.
Hurricanes have changed in frequency and strength. There is evidence that the number of intense hurricanes has increased in the Atlantic since 1970. Scientists continue to study whether climate is the cause.
Heat waves more frequent. It is likely that heat waves have become more common in more areas of the world.
Warmer temperatures affect human health. There have been more deaths due to heat waves and more allergy attacks as the pollen season grows longer. There have also been some changes in the ranges of animals that carry disease like mosquitoes.
Seawater is becoming more acidic. Carbon dioxide dissolving into the oceans, is making seawater more acidic. There could be impacts on coral reefs and other marine life.

After reading all the steps and actions to be taken to minimize the climate change, I will try to ask you if you can do it all the steps and action given for the future generations and for your own family? For me we can’t feel the all the effects of the climate change today but some of the effects are is in action now. Climate change can be a big disaster in the next generation and It could harm the people. We can use the given steps and action to minimize the climate change and we are also helping our environment by following those steps. While we are acting the steps given, at the same time we save our money. Just like if we use bicycle if we were going to the places that is not so far, also if we turn off the appliances that are not being used, and by changing our regular light bulb into compact fluorescent for the that the compact fluorescent is much affordable than the regular light bulb(yellow light).

After seeing the effects of the climate change I was shocked and I was thinking if these effects will happen how the people could face this phenomenon. One time I watch television (GMA network) and the topic is about the climate change and the effects of climate change in the entire world, I’m so worried and try to ask my self is this possible to happen? As the program goes along they prove that it could really happen it is also because of people. I’m scared of the time it will happen, if the effects will take place all of the people will be affected and will suffer from the disasters and it can lead to death. After reading some of the articles about climate change, I can also say that the technology is also one of the biggest contributors of climate change. But the biggest contributor of climate change is you and only you.

Information System sometimes refers to a system of persons, data records and activities that process the data and information in an organization, and it includes the organization's manual and automated processes. Computer-based information systems are the field of study for information technology, elements of which are sometimes called an "information system" as well, a usage some consider to be incorrect.Information System Planning is important in a business industry; through this information system planning they can achieve their business goals with the help of the information system planning. In my own opinion information system planning is one of the key factors in a successful business. With the help of the information system planning or the information system itself a business will be in the right way in achieving their business goals. That’s why information system planning is extremely important in a business, it helps to the task of the employee to be more fast and accurate through the make use of the computers. I could say that having a very good information system in a business brings the business in more competitive and much functional. A information system helps your business requirements in achieving them and when making an information system for your business you must first make a information system vision that relates also in your business goals. The information system planning helps your current business and also your future business needs.

When making an information system you must look first the current information system of the company and indentify the weakness and strength of the current information system. After indentifying the weaknesses and strengths of the current information system of the company you will now get the needs of the business needs and you can now cite your purposes in making the information system plan. As I read some articles about information system planning, I come up some purposes of an information system planning.

Purposes of having an Information System Planning:

1. Identify the current and future Information System needs of the business.
2. Enhance business competitive position through technology.
3. Match the business strategy.
4. To make the business processes and financial much easy to work.

When seeing the purposes of the information system planning for the business we could be attracted of the purposes of making an information system. When our business has an information system planning it can help our present business and future needs of our business.Identify the current and future information system needs of the business. For this purpose of the information system we can identify what are the problems and what are lacking in out information system. In this purpose the weaknesses and the strength of the current information system will indentify. After they are identified we can improve the strengths of the current information system of the business and we can also solve the problems and what lacks of the IS of the business. This purpose of information system planning is extremely helpful for the business. Planning can provide you a right decision in your business.

The second purpose of having an information system planning is to enhance the business competitive position through technology. In this part the information system planning helps the business to be more competitive trough the use of the technology. With the technology that the business is using, the employee of the company will make their assign task more easy and fast to process. Technology refer to material objects of use to humanity, such as machines, hardware or utensils, but can also encompass broader themes, including systems, methods of organization, and techniques. After the definition about technology we are now aware that technology has an important role in the field of the business and through the technology also the business will become more aggressive.

The third purpose of the information system planning is to match the business strategy of the company. This purpose is very significant since an information system is the one who will help the business strategy or business goals achieve. When making an information system plan, the information system plan must be align to the business requirements so that they will work together properly. Matching the information system plan to the goal and requirements of the business will make fewer problems in implementing the new information system that is being plan.

That’s the important of having a purposes in what you do. Everything you do must have a purpose so that you will know if you do well and you reach your purpose. Every purpose of the information system plan is very important in the business; think about your business that has no information system. Your business will only last for a month that’s for sure.

Challenge means call something into question: to call something into question by demanding an explanation, justification, or proof. Having this definition we can now understand the questions which what are the major challenges of the information system planning. The challenges of the information system planning are the one who give more strength to them to work much harder to achieve their goals. Having a challenge in your work it pumps up you to do your job extra harder and do your job together with heart. As well the information system planning is also the same, the major challenges that occur in planning pumps up the Information System Professional to their job well to reach the expected output of the business and that is to help the business. Major challenges of the information system planning are the Accuracy, Usability, and Time. All of these challenges that the information system planning is taken gives pressure to the Information System Professional on how the IS Professional do the information system that gives the business accuracy, usability and time of the information system. The challenges that the information system planning can help the information system professional to know whether he/she task is accurate enough to the business or the information system planning itself is accurate, is the information system planning is usable to the business, and if the information system planning gives fast transaction of the business so that less time will be wasted in waiting. Before we discuss the challenges of the IS planning I will first leave a question for you to answer after discussing the challenges of the information system planning. What could be the role of the challenges of the information system planning?

The firs challenge of the information system planning is the accuracy of the information system to the business. We first define what accuracy is and we will relate it to the information system plan. Accuracy is ability to avoid errors: the ability to be precise and avoid errors. From the definition of Encarta dictionaries regarding the accuracy will now relate it to the information system planning. When planning about the information system of the business we must consider the business requirements and goal so that when we now implement the information system to the business it will not make conflicts and it will avoid errors. In other words our information system planning must be accurate to the business and must be error free. Accuracy is a big factor and challenge of the information system since it tackles about how precise the information system handles the data of the company. Having this challenge in IS Planning gives extra care in management of the data and the information system professional must retrieve the data in detail so when accessing the data it will be more precise or accurate. The information that you provide someone with in order to make very important decisions must be exactly accurate. If one piece of data is wrong it could mean the difference between life and death, literally. For example, if a doctor receives fake information about a patient’s allergies he may give that patient medicine that could eventually kill them. Accuracy in giving information is very important or the information system must give accurate information.

Another major challenge of the information system is the usability of the information system in the business. Information system planning you must consider what could be the possible usage of this information system to the business and if this could help the company. Usability of the information system has key role in the business since you implement an information system plan to be use to the business and improve the performance of the transactions happening in the company. If the business uses software to access the business information it must be easy to manipulate so that the end-users can get information easily. The information needs to be with no trouble accessible from the hardware where it is stored. Also, if the information is generated into a report form of some kind, the report must be made so that it can be interpreted naturally in order to make exact decisions. The information provided should have value to the decisions at hand. Usability of the information system must be handling in a trouble-free. For example, you have bought a latest cellular phone and then you don’t know how to operate it, so how could you use it. That’s why this challenge also important in information system planning and it has a role about the usage of the information system.

The last challenge of information system planning is the time factor. As time progresses everything is built bigger and faster and people seem to be always operating at a faster pace, therefore information needs to be received at a faster rate. If a person or business does not get the information in time to make a prompt decision they could lose out on many opportunities. This concept all started when the phone was introduced and people could be connected to each other in an instant, instead of waiting a week for a letter in the mail. Now as the internet has evolved, people and businesses can send documents and other information to one another in matter of seconds, causing decision-making times to decrease dramatically. We make information system to improve the performance of our business transactions and so that it can access information in the faster way. As people remain to progressively become more frantically fast paced the challenge of information getting to them will need also to become faster.

These three aspects of Information Systems must be used in combination with one another. Information may be received rapidly and easy to employ, but if it is imprecise it is valueless. Just the same if the information is either too slow or unintelligible it is ineffective as well. The major challenge of these three issues is combining them as one in an efficient effectual way.

Purposes of having an information system plan and the challenges of the information system plan are the key factors of having a functional information system. The challenges if IS planning can motivate to the IS professional to work much harder to prove that they conquer the challenges. In conclusion, the purposes and challenges of Information System Planning has a different role in building a functional information system.

Relationship between the business plan and the Information System plan

Before discussing the nature of the relationship between the business plan and the Information System plan. For me a business plan is a direction of a certain business or a goal that must be attain so that the business will be successful and a business plan be obliged to make it before the construction of the business. In Wikipedia A business plan is a formal statement of a set of business goals, the reasons why they are believed attainable, and the plan for reaching those goals. It may also contain background information about the organization or team attempting to reach those goals. My knowledge about what is a business plan is almost the same to the description of the Wikipedia. Strategic Information System Planning is much focus on improving the management of the business and improves the performance of the business. Since I’m taking up the Management Information System subject now and we are studying about how the organizations do their Strategic Information System Planning (SISP). Strategic Information System Planning making has many factors to be considered the internal factors and external factors. In internal factors you must know what are the S.W.O.T. or Strength, Weaknesses, Opportunity and Threat of the organization. The external sides there are also factors that must consider the P.E.S.T.E or Political, Economical, Sociological, Technology and Environmental. These factors are very important in SISP. We will achieve a good plan for our organization if all these factors will be considered.

A business plan can be profitable or non-profitable. A business plans that aims for a profitable business is more focus and their goals are further gives attention to the financial side. Profitable business plan is the usual kind of a business that the intention is focus in having an income from their capital. For me this type of business plan is much more needed for the people that is business minded and want to earn cash. Non-profitable business plans are usually the public service or the government which their goal is not centers the income of the business but their goals is more focus in giving services to the people. In my own opinion non-profitable business plan is also a pleasant plan that tends to help the people around their society.

The Strategic Information System Planning has internal and external factors that are required to consider in constructing a Strategic Information System Planning. While the business plans provide and may focus internal business plan and external business plan. For the external business plan target goals that are important to external stakeholders, particularly financial stakeholders. Examples of external stakeholders are the investors and the customer for profitable business plan while in non-profitable business plan are the donors and the clients of the non-profit's services. The tax-payers, higher-level government agencies, and international lending bodies such as the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank can also be consider as a external stakeholders of the non-profitable business plan. For the internal business plans, they may cover the development of a new product, a new service, a new IT system, a restructuring of finance, the refurbishing of a factory or a restructuring of the organization. An internal business plan is often developed in conjunction with a balanced scorecard or a list of critical success factors. This allows success of the plan to be measured using non-financial measures. Business plans that identify and target internal goals, but provide only general guidance on how they will be met are called strategic plans.

Strategic Information System Planning is any technique employed to achieve an ISP must be accomplishable with less than 3% of the IT budget. Additionally, it must be timely, useable, maintainable, able to be iterated into a quality product, and reproducible. IT organizations, once they have completed their initial set of databases and business information systems will find themselves transformed from a project to a release environment. There are two factors that must think about which is that external and internal factors. In the side of the internal factors, the SWOT that must be consider or the Strength Weakness Opportunity and Threats of the organization in making the Strategic Information System Plan. Strength, we should recognize the strength of the organization for us to improve or continue the good deeds of the organization. The strong point of the organization should be properly handle and must be improve or retain since it gives plus point to the organization. Searching for the weakness of the organization is very necessary since it is the weak point of the organization we must find a technique to solve the weak point of the organization and improve it. Opportunity and threat is also a key factor in making a Strategic Information System Planning. External factors are composing of PESTE or the Political Economical Sociological Technology Environment. All of these external factors must consider when making a Strategic Information System Plan from the Political, Economical, Sociological, Technology and Environment so that your are not only focus in your organization but you will also know what is the factors that affects your business outside your organization.

Having the definition of the business plan and the Strategic Information System Planning, we can determine what is the relationship of the two. I discuss also what are the limitation and focus of the business plan and the SISP. The relationship of the business plan and the Strategic Information System Plan are the business plan is only focusing in the attainment of the goals of the business in short it gives more attention to the business side while the Strategic Information System Plan focuses in improving the management side and to improve the performance of the business. Good day to my readers. In this topic I will state here where the Information System(IS) begin and what are the problems of SISP. My classmates have their report in this morning about the two topic the evolution of SISP and the problems of SISP. The evolution of SISP was started in late 60's and 70's. The methodology of SISP was started in late 80's. Their were 3 problems occurs in SISP, 1. Alignment of IS and the Organizational Plan, 2. Development of Information System and 3. Evaluation of the result and outcome of the SISP. Sir Randy S. Gamboa our professor in Management Information System 2 at the University of Southeastern Philippines. He discussed about how to make a SISP. SISP making has many factors to be considered the internal and external factors. In internal factors you must know what are the S.W.O.T. or Strength,Weaknesses,Oppurtunity and Threat of the organization. The external side their are also factors that must consider the P.E.S.T.E or Political, Economical, Sociological, Technology and Environmental.
This factors are very important in SISP. We will achieve a good plan for our organization if all these factors will be considered. Having a good plan without having a good application is nothing.

TESDA Hardware Servicing Exam(NCII)

Hardware Servicing Exam is a TESDA program that examines the student about the hardware and software of the computer. The computer technology students are taking this exam. I’m a computer technology (5 months) student in Southeastern Mindanao Institute of Technology (SMIT). Just last November 9, 2008 I took the examination and I think I passed the exam..Ehehe..I say that since I saw the remarks of the examiner which was all ok. The exam has 6 project or parts, 1st project is you will state the 6 Occupational Health Safety, 2nd you will check all the materials, tools and equipment that is needed in assembling computer, 3rd is you will now assemble the computer, 4th after the computer is assemble you will now install the Operating System and make partition, 5th you will make straight trough cable for networking using the utp cable and rj-45, network the computers, share the printer and print, and make a back-up, and 6th project is the question and answer portion about software and hardware of the computer and troubleshooting. The exam was very nice and I’ve learned many things about computers. It is very helpful for those people that loves computer and for the student who are in the field of computer world. Internet Cafe Association of Davao (ICAD) is an organization that handles the ICafe's in Davao City. I visited their office and talk with the President of ICAD Mrs. Y. Cabada. I went to their office to know about their organization and how they help the people in Davao City and also to know about ICafe, because I want to have an Research about ICafe. The organization is not so big but it helps the people especially the user and the owner of the ICafe. I learn many things from Mam Cabada, one of them is after graduating the computer courses like BSIT or Information Technology. Some of us already set our mind to go abroad to have a work and gain more money than here. Mam said that we can work here and gain enough money together with our family. One of the possible job that we can get here in Davao is we can be a Call Center agent,Customer Support or we can be a Manager of a Call Center Company like Concentrix. Business Process Office (BPO) or Knowledge Process Office (KPO) they are the one who build an Call Center Company and give jobs to the people and they are looking for a middle management jobs.

Internet issue in our University

Godd Day!

Internet? Why do we need a fast internet in our university? We only need an article and a search engine to have an study and obtain important things in the internet. Video Streming?download? Why student do that thing, it is for fun and entertainment only. For me I will suggest to the university particularly in the Institue of Computing department to reduce the computers in the nodal, so that the internet will have much lesser distribution of the internet in every computer. The lesser the computer the lesser the internet connection distributed in each computer. The computer that has a low performance is the computer that must be take away from the nodal. Example of this is when your internet connection has an speed of 1mbps and you have 20 computers, the speed of your internet connection will be divided into 20. Like in our nodal we have many computers but some of them has a low performance type of computer and the bandwidth of our internet connections is not so fast. As what I observe all computers in the nodal is fully used, there are so many vacant. In that case some of the computers are not being used by the students.

State of the Nation Address(SONA) is a yearly program of our President. In her SONA last July 28,2008, she said about some ICT she has planning to do and has been done. In her SONA I cited 2 related in ICT:

1st:
"Texting is a way of life. I asked the telecoms to cut the cost of messages between networks. They responded. It is now down to 50 centavos. "

-> In this part of her SONA I was happy to hear that, but as i heard in the news that the 50 centavo rate of texting is only a promo. The telecom company said this is a promo that will end on September or October, I'm not sure of the exact month. It was quite disappointing.

"Our P 350 million training partnership with the private sector should qualify 60,000 for call centers, medical transcription, animation and software development, which have a projected demand of one million workers generating $13 billion by 2010."

-> Wow, this is a good program that we techy guys want to have. It is true that only India our strong competitor in this field. For me this program it can give many opportunities for us. I hope that this will be successful and will help us in the future.

In addition,the SONA talks more about the food crisis and energy crisis. President Gloria said that this crisis is global and they have no control of this crisis.

Factors for publishing research in top-tier journals like CSP, ACM, i3E, etc

Their are many key factors on publishing a research to the top tier journals. I will discuss some one the key factors.

1. Explicitly mention the limits of your research.
--> When publishing to the top tier journals, you must let them know the limitation of your reserach

2. Write using a strong topic sentence as the first sentence of each paragraph.
-->When starting a paragrph in your research, write the first sentence that the reader will feel that your research is a good one.

3. Give your paper to other 2-3 colleagues (probably from other universities) to review before submitting it.
--> It is very important that you will give your paper to other colleagues, so that they can advise for if your paper is good or they can also give some critics to make your paper more nice to be publish.

Their are more factors in publishing your paper in to the top tier journal. Don't worry i will give you the URL of the key factors. Having all of them, your research paper will be a good and useful. So when publishing a research paper in a top -tier journal we must also consider the key factors.

Here are some barriers of Information System.

• A general lack of education and information about both technology and programs

• Lack of a shared, reliable computing and network infrastructure

• Goals that are too ambitious for the resources available to achieve them

• Human and organizational resistance to change

• Unrealistic time frames

• Organizational, programmatic, technological, and legal complexity

• Changing priorities

• Overlapping or conflicting missions among the participating organizations

The said statements above were true. In information system, you must be simple in doing it or a system that can be possibly made. Don't make a system that is very large or hard to make. Make your system simple that can easily be understand. Every system has an limitation. Good day to everyone. Green Campus Computing is a research in how the Information Technology(IT) helps the student and the school campuses in the field of academic and saving energy. IT or computers can help the student in their academics, like for example in searching for their projects, they can easily get information’s from the internet particularly in the search engines. By using the computers in the campuses, we must also think that we are using an energy. We must consider this tips to conserve energy while we are using the computers, first we must not turn on our computers if we are not using it, second we must not turn on the printers if we are not printing a documents. If you have some other works to do and your research in the internet is not done yet, do not use screensaver if you are leaving the computer because the screensaver is using 28% more energy, but instead set it to the sleep mode to conserve more energy. We are talking about here the IT facilities in our campuses, like computers, printers, etc. The administration of the school must give policies in conserving energy in using the IT facilities to tell the student that they must save energy for the future generations.

Taxation is the amount of money raised by collecting taxes and an amount levied as a tax on something. They would rather choose to buy online because there are no taxes paid when they tend to buy using the Internet or online buying. The state officials worry about the buying in the internet, they lost the state tax revenue. In 1998, the congress passed a law which entitled Internet Tax Freedom Act. In 1998 state taxes generated about $12 billion dollars, roughly 25% of state and local tax revenue. There are state that has no tax, the state that have no tax are the Alaska, Delaware, New Hampshire, Montana, and Oregon, all of this state is about 3% of the total population of United State. About 60% of the state tax revenue if from the consumers while the 40% of the tax revenue is from the business sector. The economist argue about the taxing of business purchase because the business sector gives the tax to the consumers which is not right, since the consumer is the one who pay for their taxes by making their items more higher price. Suppose that firm A sells a product to firm B for $1 plus a 5 percent sales tax. Firm B then sells the same product to a consumer for $2 plus another 5 percent sales tax. If these taxes are fully passed along to the consumer, he or she ends up paying 15 cents tax on a $2 purchase. The increase in the final tax paid by the consumer due to the taxation of business inputs is known as "pyramiding" or "cascading." This pyramiding of taxes will cause consumers to consume less of the good than they would have otherwise and may cause firms to change their behavior simply to reduce their tax burden. Senator John McCain has introduced the Senate Bill 16111, which talks about the scope of the internet. Since the business or the commerce is global, the internet is one of the most convenient way to buy or sale a product because with the internet you can buy or sale a product anywhere you want. For me the internet is one of the effective way on making a business.

In the first part of this scientific paper is all about the retail transactions in financial services. The stock market trading is one of the killer apps of the Internet. The three kinds of brokers where broker E - Trade (Electronic Trading), second is the full service brokers and the last one is the discount brokerages. The full service broker can one trade 1-2 times per year, while the discount broker can deal 4-6 times a year, while the electronic trade broker or using the internet in trading deals 25 trades a year. Mortgage refinancing has benefited by the advances if information technology or the Internet. By using the internet the transaction cost will be lessen because borrowers can easily pay or fill-up forms online and the processing is automated. The big companies and the investors will invest or trade through internet because wherever you are you can use the internet in monitoring your business. The goal of this paper is to know what will happen if the cyber markets will occur in the financial markets. The first cyber market in the internet was the Iowa Presidential Market. There are many exotic markets, one of them is the Robin Hanson’s Idea Futures page. This kind of market is about giving a question ahead from the actual event. Wall Street is securitizing virtually everything that produces a predictable stream of cash. Typhoon insurance. Tax liens. Loans for used cars and fraternity houses. Fax machine leases. Mutual-fund fees. Electronic agents for trading will likely be widely used. This is unlikely to cause a problem unless there is significant specialization on one type of trading agent. Electronic markets should aim for transparency in transactions, which is one of the best defenses against instability.

THE ECONOMICS OF INTERNET SEARCH

Search engines is the most widely used in the internet, 86% of the internet users uses search engine. The search engine, the main function of this is to search for something that users want to find, but that’s not all according to them that search engines is highly profitable. Search engines are accepting advertisement which gives them a money since the advertising company is using the website of the search engine. Example of the search engine are yahoo, google and MSN. The search engine is a two sided-matching, one side is for searching information’s that user need while the other side of the web is for advertising. Brin and Page started Google they have no intention to make it a business. At one point they offered to sell the Pagerank algorithm they use to Yahoo for $ 1 million. The company in Pasadema named Goto.com was starting to auction off Search results. When the Goto.com launch the auctioning search result, the said program was not working well. They made a new business which they auctioned off advertisements to accompany. At that time also they change their name to Overture. The Google get some idea to Goto.com but they improve the program that Goto.com made. The Google Ad auction is the largest electronic auction in the entire world. So the ranking used by Google and Yahoo was based not only in the bids but also the Ad quality. In this I making my conclusion that the search engines are a two sided, one side is for making money and the other side giving information, for me it is very good kind idea. You can help to the people by giving the information they need at the same time you earn money.
